Bank Rate on hold, QE frozen

Interest rates have been kept on hold at the record low of 0.5% for an 11th consecutive month today. More importantly, the Bank of England has decided not to use further Quantitative Easing (QE) to stimulate the UK economy.

New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown that employers paid £40.6bn into company pension schemes in 2008. This represents a £4bn (9%) drop year-on-year.
