True wealth is about how little you need not how much you have got.
I blogged yesterday about the staggering weekly rental allowance of £5,000 payable to the new Governor of the Bank of England.
Also in the press this week (in a different newspaper) is the story of the lottery winner who some some 16 years ago won over £12m.
Apparently he vowed then that it would not change him.
True to his word he continued working, continued to live in the same house and his expenditure on luxury items has been absolutely less than spectacular.
Leaving aside the fact that I do hold to the fact that money to some extent is there to be enjoyed I can’t help but feel that this is the kind of chap that should really be in Government!
Can you imagine him as Chancellor? He would make George (or Jeffrey if you prefer the US President’s name for him) or even the less than plausible Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, look like complete buffoons.
By now he would have managed the country completely out of the debt crisis. In fact unlike Ed he wouldn’t have for us into this mess in the first place.
Well done David Ashcroft – you truly understand that wealth is about how little you need not how much you have.
