On Tuesday 19th August 2013, the team at Informed Choice are writing a new personal finance book.
Published personal finance author Martin Bamford will be joined by his fellow directors Nick Bamford and Andrew Neligan to form the writing team.
All three Chartered Financial Planners will be based for the day in the reception area of their offices at Sundial House in Cranleigh, Surrey.
The event will be broadcast online and questions will be invited from a live audience on Twitter.
The book is titled Your Money Day – One day to take control of your finances.
It will be published by Informed Choice in paperback and Kindle editions, available to purchase via the Informed Choice website shortly after it has been written.
The book will guide the reader through all of the main areas of personal financial planning, showing them how to structure a day spent reviewing and creating the financial plan.
All proceeds from the sales of Your Money Day will be donated to charity, The Jigsaw Trust a UK registered charity (Charity No. 1075464).
The primary objective of the Trust is to improve the lives of those affected by autism through the provision of high quality, accessible, educational and wellbeing services.
This live blog will be updated throughout the project.

Assuming the technology works, you will be able to watch a live broadcast of us writing Your Money Day:
Update at 10:31 20/08/13
That’s the first chapter, all about debt, written. Nearly 2,000 words in the bag. We are moving on now to looking at tax, income tax and capital gains tax in particular. If you have any top tips for tax, or any questions about how tax works, now is the time to post them in the comments section below or tweet them using the hashtag #yourmoneyday.
Update at 14:21 20/08/13
This is really hard work! We’ve written chapters now on debt, tax, savings, protection and investment. Taking a short break to get ice creams and pull together some other content for the introduction and chapter on financial planning and then back to write the chapters on retirement, paying for care, inheritance tax planning and getting advice. 9,800 words written so far against a minimum target of 20,000!
Update at 15:50 20/08/13
We each worked for an hour or so on an individual chapter, but now we’re back in the room and on the live broadcast to complete the final couple of chapters. Over 15,000 words now written!
Update at 16:57 20/08/13
And we’re finished! 17,600 words written in one day. Next step is to edit what we have written and proof read it very carefully. We then aim to make the book available to purchase in paperback and Kindle (eBook) editions by the end of this week.
Thank you to everyone who taken part and contributed tips or questions. We had over 50 people watching the live stream throughout the day and lots of people chatting with us on Twitter, as well as several visitors to our office.
