We are pleased to announce that Shelley McCarthy, our senior paraplanner, has passed her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) assessment.
Shelley becomes the fifth CFP professional at Informed Choice, joining Martin, Andrew, Sandy and Angela as holders of this prestigious internationally recognised professional title.
Shelley joins around 900 CFP professionals in the UK and a community of 138,000 Financial Planning professionals worldwide.
The CFP certification is an advanced qualification which tests a candidate’s ability to apply their advanced levels of technical knowledge and skills in order to produce an effective financial plan.
Becoming a CFP professional is a real challenge and that’s why the qualification represents the only globally recognised mark of excellence in Financial Planning. It is achieved by the completion of a comprehensive financial plan, based on a case study supplied by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP).
As our senior paraplanner, Shelley plays a key role in the construction of advice reports for clients. She works closely with each Financial Planner to understand client requirements before completing research and constructing reports.
Here at Informed Choice, we believe these higher level professional qualifications are important to demonstrate our technical competence and planning skills.
The Retail Distribution Review, which is being implemented at the end of next year, will result in a higher minimum qualification requirement for all financial advisers, at level 4 rather than the current level 3 requirement.
The CFP certification, like the Chartered Financial Planner designation, is assessed at level 6, which makes it a much more robust test of competence and skills than even the new minimum requirements.
