The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,362.94, down 60.20 points or -1.11% on the day and down 182.44 points (-3.29%) over the week.
The biggest companies finished the day lower with mining and banking stocks both contributing to the poor performance at the London Stock Exchange.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has fallen from 5,768.70, a fall of 405.76 points or -7.03%.
