The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,598.48, up 51.40 points or +0.93% on the day and up 90.03 points (+1.63%) over the week.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,079.30 (519.18 points or 10.22%).
The index overcame a three day losing streak on Friday, helped along by bid rumours that saw the price of shares in Burberry rise to a record high. Data from the US also helped the index along later in the day, showing a rebound in capital goods demand.
£1 is currently worth $1.58270 US or €1.17370 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $78.87/barrel. Gold is $1,297.00/ounce and Silver is $21.35/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.1% for the year to August 2010.
