The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,829.30, closing up 13.88 (+0.20%) on the day and up 89.36 points or 1.33% over the week.
Shares in London rose in value on Friday on the back of strong retail sales data.
The FTSE 100 is now approaching its 14 year high, needing to close above 6,840.27 to exceed its all time high established on 30th December 1999.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 6,132.40, a rise of 696.90 points or +11.36%.

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 2.0% for the year to December 2013.
