The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,606.58, closing up 21.88 (+0.33%) on the day and up 166.62 points (+2.59%) over the week.
UK equities rose in value for their third consecutive session, resulting in one of the best weeks this year for the FTSE 100.
Share prices were boosted by strong economic data from the US and a rally in cruise operator Carnival.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,958.30, a rise of 648.28 points or +10.88%.

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 2.1% for the year to October 2013.
