The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,551.99, closing up 53.66 (+0.83%) on the day and down 98.58 points (-1.48%) over the week.
The market rose on Friday after the publication of positive US jobs data.
203,000 extra jobs were created last month in the US, ahead of forecasts for an increase of 180,000.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,901.40, a rise of 650.59 points or +11.02%.
