This blog is mostly about personal finance, investing and the like, but from time to time we like to write about other things.
On Saturday I visited Birdworld with my daughter, girlfriend and her two children.
Birdworld is one of the largest bird parks in England, covering 26 acres near Farnham in Surrey.
When I visit zoos, the birds are often the exhibits I pass the quickest. Visiting a bird park removes the distraction of other more ‘interesting’ beasts, encouraging a focus on our feathered friends.
I would recommend a visit to anyone with a passing interest (or more) in ornithology, wildlife or photography.
We chose a very cold day to visit and would like to go again in the summer, when a longer visit would be more comfortable.
There was at least the opportunity for a few photos.
If you are going along with photos in mind, you can get away with a reasonably short lens; I was using a Sigma 70-300mm on my Nikon D7000 but would have been equally happy with my Nikkor 55-200. In fact, the benefit of vibration reduction on the shorter lens could have resulted in some sharper photos, after leaving my monopod in the car.
Here are some of the photos I captured on the day, whilst also trying to make sure three small children didn’t fall into any ponds or step on any ducks.
