With only nine weeks to go until I take on the Virgin London Marathon 2013 on 21st April, I put together a short video over the weekend.
I’m running to raise funds for The Jigsaw Trust, with an initial fundraising target of £1,000.
I’m very proud to be representing them at the London Marathon, my first attempt at the full marathon distance, where I am targeting a time of 3 hours 45 minutes.
I don’t often ask the people I know for charitable donations, but on this occasion I’m making an exception. Please give what you can to help me reach my target. I’m sure that every penny you donate will help me keep my legs moving once the fatigue sets in during training and on the day!
Your donation will help fund the important work done by Jigsaw to improve the lives of those affected by autism through the provision of high quality, accessible, educational and wellbeing services.
Here’s the video.
It was filmed on Friday morning. On Saturday afternoon I completed my second ‘long’ training run, covering 30km (18.6 miles) along the Downs Link from Cranleigh to Christ’s Hospital and back in three hours.
At the end of this run it was dark, I was running with a head torch and getting tired, so not fully concentrating. I stepped in a big hole on the trail and fell down hard, hurting my knees in the process. The gory photo is here if you want to see it.
36 hours later and they seem to be in full working order, despite being quite sore. In fact, I managed a two hour walk in the Surrey Hills yesterday morning with my family, which even without the painful knees was an achievement after three hours of running the day before!
If all goes to plan, I’ll be running a couple of times this week and then another 20 miles next weekend.
