The first Eat & Drink Cranleigh Festival 2013 took place at the Cranleigh Arts Centre on Saturday 5th October.
Sponsored by Informed Choice and Firebird Brewing Co (a local “micro-brewer”) the festival was a staggering success.
Over 700 people attended during the day and I don’t think in all the years I have lived in Cranleigh I have seen the Arts Centre so busy.
I spent the whole day there and enjoyed watching the local producers of beer, cheese, bread, cakes, pies, chocolate and fudge (and much more) market their wares.
The one common theme that shone out of the festival was the knowledge and passion being demonstrated by the producers and distributors of these high quality products.
There is no doubt that more and more of us are concerned about the provenance of the food that we eat and if it is locally produced as well that is a huge bonus.
There are were too many firms showing to mention all of them by name but each of them deserves the highest praise for their participation in the festival.
Add to the wonderful array of food and drink an extremely talented magician as well as some entertaining musical and dance performers and the day must rank as highly entertaining and well worth the staggeringly good entrance fee of just £1!!
Well done to all concerned and I look forward to Eat & Drink Cranleigh 2014.
We put together this short video talking to some of the exhibitors, finding out a little more about them and their businesses.
Here are the food and drink producers we spoke with on the video:
