Last night saw personal finance journalists and IFAs gather for the annual Unbiased Media Awards in London.
I was delighted to be a finalist in two categories; Investment Adviser of the Year and Social Media Adviser of the Year.
It was great to meet many of the journalists I speak to on a daily basis, as well as having the opportunity to network with a room full of leading financial advisers.
Despite not picking up any prizes last night, it was a good reminder of the importance of the work financial advisers and personal finance journalists carry out to promote the value of advice in the local, national, online and broadcast media.
Last year we spoke to personal finance journalists on over 300 separate occasions, resulting in 116 mentions in national or consumer press titles, with many more in the trade press.
This is only a small part of the 8,000 pieces of positive media generated last year by Unbiased.co.uk and their Bluebook media service, which connects more than 400 consumer and trade journalists with professional advisers.
We feel extremely privileged to have a regular opportunity to share our experience and expertise with readers, listeners and viewers in this way, as well as stimulating debate within our own profession.
When you read informed commentary in the weekend personal finance press, assuming it is not something we have said, there is a good chance it was the result of the work carried out by those attending the Media Awards yesterday evening.
We look forward to continuing our working relationship with personal finance journalists in 2014 and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists from last night.
