The third largest economy in the world has returned to recession after posting a second consecutive quarter of economic contraction in the first three months of the year.
The latest economic figures, published this morning, show that the UK economy fell by 0.5% in the last three months of 2010.
The publication today of preliminary data for GDP growth in the UK between July and September shows better than predicted growth at 0.8% for the quarter.
