The Legal Ombudsman has published a report stating that the most complaints that they receive are in respect of legal advice about divorce.
Both the level of fees being charged and the quality of service is being complained about.
Apparently in one case a woman was charged £4,000 for photocopying as part of a £15,000 bill for a divorce case that did not proceed.
I am not even sure we paid as much as £4,000 for both of the photocopiers we have in our office!!
18% of the 7,500 complaints it dealt with last year were about divorce or family law related cases.
