I had an example today of what I can only describe as “super service”.
A couple of days ago my wife and I (as I am not allowed to make any significant purchase on my own) visited our local bag and luggage shop.
We always like to shop locally where we can and my trusty briefcase had just expired on me. After a short period of carrying my files around in a Marks and Spencer multi use carrier bag, we decided it was time for a replacement.
We got a really good service but the bags available didn’t match my requirements and the shop owner offered to get in a range of alternatives to consider.
This she duly did and I soon got a telephone call to tell me the alternatives had arrived. My first choice wasn’t amongst the briefcases on offer but I selected one that was just right for me and at a good price as well.
The story could end there good service and job done. But later that afternoon I got a further phone call to say that the original briefcase I had selected had now arrived and if I wanted to I could go back and exchange the one I had for the one I originally wanted.
Frankly I was happy with the one I now had but what great service.
Someone taking that extra bit of effort to satisfy a customer. Something that might be considered quite rare these days and unsurprisingly usually only available from smaller local providers
