To celebrate Spring Into Cranleigh on Saturday 3rd May 2014, we are displaying a Money Tree in front of our High Street offices at Sundial House.
We will be asking visitors to Spring into Cranleigh to share with us their financial dreams, writing these on a luggage tag which will be tied to the branches of a tree in order to create a Money Tree.
To say thank you to all those taking part in the project, we will be giving away a free Field Maple sapling to every visitor.
The Field Maple (Acer campestre) is an attractive and common small tree that is often overlooked in woods.
Good for wildlife and easily grown, this vibrant native tree has autumn foliage which turns a beautiful clear yellow, or sometimes flushed red.
A good foraging tree, the small flowers are attractive to bees and insects, whilst the seeds are eaten by mammals such as wood mice and bank voles.
At the end of the day, we will be donating the full size tree to the village, where the Parish Council has kindly agreed to find it a permanent home at the Snoxhall Play Park.
Do pop along to see us during Spring into Cranleigh on Saturday. We will be at 20 High Street, Cranleigh (next door to the library) from 10am to 4pm.
