It’s the end of week five of working from home and what a week it has been.
We have enjoyed a lovely Easter weekend with three days of glorious spring sunshine. The garden has never looked so good!
Andy has spent most of the time painting the garden furniture, and that is looking great.
Hopefully, we will get some more good weather and put the garden to good use.
Good Friday saw us celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary and a good excuse for getting the BBQ out, cooking dinner and enjoying some of my favourite wine a Cru Beaujolais Cote de Brouilly from a vineyard called Chateau Thivin.
I say my favourite wine because Andy is tee-total and hands her weekly unit allowance over to me!
Forty-four years ago I brought her back from our honeymoon three days early to take her to watch Bristol Rovers play. She is indeed a fortunate girl!.
Each anniversary I pretend that I am taking her to a match. This year I brought her a cup of tea wearing my Bristol Rovers shirt, but she wasn’t fooled at all.
We have new visitors to the garden because a pair of Blue Tits have taken up residence in the Sparrow Nest box we put up many years ago.
Ironically, Sparrows have never used the box. It’s one of those boxes that has multiple sections for birds that like to nest in colonies.
In one afternoon I have seen eight* species of Butterfly in the garden and that I guess is a function of the warm weather.
From Cranleigh, we can see the air traffic out of Gatwick Airport, but it is now rare to see any planes. This weekend I have counted just three aircraft.
While we can usually hear these flights, they are not particularly noisy, but they are noticeable. Few aircraft and a good deal fewer vehicle movements result in a quieter environment.
As well as getting on with the work from home, I take the daily exercise regime seriously. Fast walking is an excellent way to keep fit and has had the side benefit of a bit of weight loss.
My diet between the New Year and the beginning of March saw me shed one stone in weight. The last few weeks of daily exercise has seen a further 4lb in weight.
What does your daily exercise regime look like during the lockdown?
*The 8 Butterflies were Orange Tip, Brimstone, Peacock, Comma, Large White, Small White, Holly Blue, and Small Tortoiseshell.
