We are in the process of moving the Informed Choice website to a brand new host.
Since its launch in November 2009, this website has grown rapidly to become a valuable source of personal finance news, views and opinions.
Our original web host has grown during this time as well, resulting in a slower user experience for our website visitors.
Working with our web guru Gareth Thompson and his team at codepotato, we are moving all of the files across to his brand new Website Ignition service.
For the technically minded among you, this involves a separate server for handling WordPress and a separate database server. All of our files are handled by the Amazon S3 service and our site will move from an Apache to Nginx web server, allowing it to handle dramatically more traffic.
Initial tests suggest that this new hosting configuration will result in our website pages being loaded up to 2 seconds faster than before.
Other than loading speed, you probably won’t notice any major differences to the look of the website, and all of our existing content is being moved across.
This process of moving to a new website host means we have put writing new blogs on hold for a couple of days, but we will be back very soon with new content for you to read and share.
