The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,018.30, down 3.96 points or -0.07% on the day and up 22.29 points (+0.37%) over the week.
The market finished marginally lower on Thursday, in a short and volatile week of trading, after reaching a high of 6,049 earlier in the day. Vodafone and BT both pulled down the performance of the index.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,723.40 (up 294.9 points or 5.15%).

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.0% for the year to March 2011.
