The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,412.93, closing down 70.12 (-1.08%) on the day and down 79.17 points (-1.22%) over the week.
Share prices fell across Europe on Friday ahead of a long weekend in the US, mixed economic data and concerns about military intervention in Syria.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,719.50, a rise of 693.43 points or +12.12%.

Brent Crude Oil Futures is currently priced at $114.01/barrel. Gold is $1,394.75/ounce and Silver is $23.64/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 2.8% for the year to July 2013.
