The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,948.49, down 7.50 points or -0.13% on the day and up 22.62 points (+0.38%) over the week.
The index gave up previous gains from an impressive start after a bad opening in the US markets.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,073.10 (up 875.39 points or 17.26%).
£1 is currently worth $1.62310 US or €1.14610 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $112.43/barrel. Gold is $1,490.75/ounce and Silver is $34.80/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.5% for the year to April 2011.
