The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,714.94, up 16.13 points or +0.28% on the day and down 50.86 points (-0.88%) over the week.
Sentiment rose across Europe before close of trade on Friday as political leaders made progress towards a solution for the Greek debt crisis. A strong start on Wall Street also helped to push the main London index over the 5,700 points level.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,253.90 (up 461.04 points or 8.78%).

Brent Crude Oil Futures is currently priced at $113.26/barrel. Gold is $1,537.50/ounce and Silver is $35.39/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.5% for the year to May 2011.
