The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,965.58, up 24.86 points or +0.42% on the day and up 78.09 points (+1.33%) over the week.
The FTSE 100 closed at its 2012 high on Friday, as the index continues to flirt with the 6,000 level.
Market talk on Friday focused on the contents of a research note from Citigroup, forecasting that the FTSE 100 will double in value to reach an all-time record high over the course of the next decade.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,598.20, a rise of 367.38 points or +6.56%.
£1 is currently worth $1.58450 US or €1.20260 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Futures is currently priced at $126.04/barrel. Gold is $1,658.00/ounce and Silver is $32.27/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.6% for the year to January 2012.
