The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,675.16, down 2.73 points or -0.05% on the day and down 66.21 points (-1.15%) over the week.
The FTSE 100 lost earlier gains and finished slightly lower due to mixed economic data from the US. British Airways lost ground after a broker pointed to the uncertainty surrounding next week’s increase in air passenger duty tax. Falling metals prices prompted share price falls amongst the miners.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,137.70 (537.46 points or 10.46%).

Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $83.20/barrel. Gold is $1,346.75/ounce and Silver is $23.96/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.1% for the year to September 2010.
