Informed Choice managing director Martin Bamford is going to be running in the Virgin London Marathon 2013.
Martin will be running for The Jigsaw Trust; a local charity we have chosen to support at Informed Choice.
The primary objective of the Trust is to improve the lives of those affected by autism through the provision of high quality, accessible, educational and wellbeing services.
This will be the first time Martin has tackled a marathon, after taking up running earlier this year in a bid to lose some weight and get fit.
In the six months Martin has been running, he has already completed four local 10k races, finishing his most recent in 29th place out of 427 runners.
Martin also completed a local half marathon last month in a respectable 1 hour and 47 minutes.
Commenting on the news that he will be running in the Virgin London Marathon 2013, Martin said:
“I am really excited by this opportunity to take part in such an iconic event. I’m very grateful to The Jigsaw Trust for offering me their charity place in the London Marathon and will be training hard over the next five months to ensure I deliver a strong performance”.
Martin aims to raise at least £1,000 for the charity and has set up a fund raising page which is now open for donations.
As part of his training programme, Martin will be taking part in the Jigsaw 5k Fun Run at Dunsfold Park on Sunday 2nd December 2012. You can find out more and enter online here.
