If you have witnessed the cringe making TV advert for the Money Advice Service (MAS) then I would like to apologise on behalf of the whole financial services intermediary sector by saying ‘it wasn’t us’.
We have no control over this Quango but sadly we are paying for it.
The cost of this truly awful and failing entity (just ask the Treasury Select Committee what they thought of it) is funded by a levy on financial services firms.
Our firm paid a little over £1,000 towards its costs this year.
Also for the sake of clarity it does not offer advice, certainly not advice where you receive any form of regulatory protection.
And as you can see from above it is not free; it may not cost the end user but it is not free!
What it offers is guidance and information and frankly any number of Internet sites can provide you with a better and more useful experience.
Sorry about this, but I am truly embarrassed by this complete and utter waste of money.
