The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,527.16, down 18.48 points or -0.33% on the day and down 175.08 points (-3.07%) over the week.
The index performed strongly in morning trading before turning negative in the afternoon session following mixed October jobs data in the US.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has fallen from 5,862.80, a fall of 335.64 points or -5.72%.
