Informed Choice chartered financial planner Nick Bamford was invited to present a webcast this morning for the Thought Leadership Live forum.
He spoke for 30 minutes on the subject of delivering independent financial advice to the mass market.
With the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) being introduced at the end of next year, many in retail financial services fear that the abolition of commission and likely reduction in adviser numbers will result in the mass market being unable to access independent financial advice.
In a presentation described by one viewer as “essential listening for IFAs who want to consider the challenges facing us post-RDR”, Nick explained why the RDR is a catalyst for change but the Internet is the elephant in the room for most IFAs.
Intermediaries need to open their minds to the potential of using the Internet to deliver independent financial advice, not simply information or guidance, to the mass market.
