The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,062.90, up 42.89 points or +0.71% on the day and up 65.52 points (+1.09%) over the week.
Shares on the London market rallied strongly during the afternoon on Friday, following positive consumer confidence figures from the US and the news that Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak had stepped down.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,161.50 (up 901.4 points or 17.46%).

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.7% for the year to December 2010.
