Volunteering is both fun and satisfying.
One of the many groups of volunteers in Cranleigh is Cranleigh in Bloom.
From litter picking to planting, weeding and watering the hanging baskets and troughs that adorn the High Street, they make the village a colourful and delightful sight.
In addition, volunteers help look after the Village Hospital garden, the Centenary garden and Beryl Harvey Conservation Field.
A great deal of this volunteering is done by our own Andy Bamford, known by so many for her work in the village.
One initiative from Cranleigh in Bloom is Cranleigh Rocks, a popular pastime for all ages, painting and decorating pebbles that are left hidden (usually in plain sight!) for people to find, and enjoy and then place elsewhere.
Cranleigh Rocks is fun for all the family on walks around the village.
Another initiative is the Pom Pom tree in the centre of the village.
This Pom Pom tree is a mass of colour as local contributors add woollen pom poms to the tree throughout the year.
One contributor to this tree is our client Steve Hancock. He creates some beautiful characters from children’s books, and they hang amongst the pom poms.
Under the tree are many Cranleigh Rocks, and sometimes they have a theme. For example, recently, they have been about raising awareness of autism.
Andy has also been responsible with Emma, another member of the Informed Choice Team, for the renovation and restoration of a discussed Phone Box on Ewhurst Road.
This phone box has been turned into a Book Exchange and is well used by the Cranleigh community.
