And so it continues!
While we have seen some relaxation of the “lockdown” rules, social distancing and working from home, where possible, remain the norm.
The pubs are open (yippee!) and, while I rarely go to a pub, the fact that I haven’t been able to do so has bizarrely meant that I wanted to!
Even though they are now open, I haven’t yet been.
My walking continues at a pace (pun intended), and it’s had the desired effect on my waistline and the amount of litter I have picked up.
About every couple of days, I take my litter picker and a bag with me and clear up the route that I have walked every day since lockdown.

I used to get angry at the amount of litter that was out there but now that it’s just frustration and also a strange sense of satisfaction once the job is done.

But be careful out there if you also do litter picking duty, it can be dangerous!
Last week walking along the old railway line, now much used by cyclists, walkers and dog owners, I spotted a couple of beer cans at the bottom of the embankment.
Litter picker and bag in hand I walked off the track to collect them.
Unfortunately, I severely underestimated the angle of the slope of the embankment and found myself falling and running down it.
Crashing into the trees and brambles at the bottom I held the contradictory thoughts of “I hope no one is watching this” and “ I do hope someone is watching this” just in case I badly injured myself and needed help!
Fortunately, I came away with a few bruises and a leg that looked like a Tiger had clawed me.
My litter frustration is compounded by the number of dog owners who seem to think it is socially acceptable to bag-up their dog’s poo and then throw the bag or hang it in the bushes (my apologies for the photo accompanying this blog). What if anything is going through their minds when they do this!
