A survey from Standard Life found that we place expensive cars and jewellery ahead of our retirement savings.
They found that £15,000 is the ‘tipping point’ where people typically care about how their money is invested.
According to Martin Bamford, a financial adviser at Informed Choice, this apathetic attitude is costing Brits dearly.
“Too many pension scheme members select the default investment option rather than something tailored to your own financial objectives,” he says.
