I am close on 6′ 2” tall, shrinking a bit because of age and osteoarthritis of the spine.
I have never really been overweight but noticed in recent years a tendency to get a bit “thick around the middle”.
I didn’t do much exercise at all over the past 25 years since ceasing to play football. About all I could really manage was bit of walking.
I recently heard Martin interviewed by Pete Matthew on the MeaningfulMoney podcast, on the subject of his incredibly successful weight loss campaign and achievement of fitness through running; and frankly it motivated me to do something.
3 weeks ago I started a diet and riding the mountain bike that has been gathering dust and cobwebs in my garage for the last few years.
Having completed three weeks of a new regime I am pleased to report that I have lost 11lbs in weight and on Monday evening was able to complete a 19 mile bike ride down the old railway line from Cranleigh to Guildford and back.
My goal is to shed another three pounds (so one stone in total), keep a constant weight in the future and continue to exercise.
I’ve got no secrets to share and haven’t done anything special (apart from a bit of determination).
And for those who know me I am pleased to say that I have not reduced the amount of red wine that I consume!
But no cakes, biscuits, crisps, chocolate, sweets, fizzy drinks, bread or potato in my diet – and much less cheese and crackers.
I will let you know when I hit that target weight but then cease to be a diet bore from that point onwards!!
