It was great to spend some time this weekend at Kilnhanger Stables near Shamley Green in Surrey, HQ for the South East British Horse Society (BHS) Trec competition.
Informed Choice was pleased to be the main sponsor for this exciting two-day event in the Surrey Hills.
BHS TREC develops the skills a horse and rider needs while out hacking, with three phases testing ability in orienteering, negotiating obstacles and basic flatwork.
Riders at all levels took part (from the beginners in level 1 to the Team GB Trec riders in levels 3 and 4) and it was lovely to hand out completion rosettes to every rider, with additional rosettes and prizes for the winners in each category.
Alec Whitby from Centaur Photographic sponsored the first prize in each class, with a generous fine art photography session for each winner.
Level 1 Class 1 Individual winner was Diana Stewart. Level 1 Class 2 Pairs winners were Graham Clack and Zoe White.
Winning the Level 2 Class 3 Individual was Jane Chivers on her horse Alice. The Level 2 Class 4 Pairs winners were Amanda Marfleet on Hector and Vicki Glynn on Red Rock.
Level 3 Class 5 Individual winner was Meredith Baker on Miz. Winning the Level 3 Class 6 Pairs was Diana Mclean on Murphy and Sarah Leggatt on The Soot.
There was no pairs competition in Level 4, and winner of Level 4 Class 7 Individual was Sue Lee on Daisy.
Here are some of our photographs from the day.
