The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,571.68, closing up 13.40 (+0.20%) on the day and up 61.24 points or 0.94% over the week.
The mining sector outperformed the broader market on Friday, with mining stocks rising for their fourth consecutive day of trading.
After getting off to a disappointing start, the FTSE 100 performed well this week, recording its single biggest daily gain in seven months on Thursday.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 6,228.40, a rise of 343.28 points or 5.51%.
