All financial transactions have advantages and disadvantages.
Never buy a financial product unless you have had the disadvantages clearly explained.
Most products per se are not “useless”. For example, “I have got less back from my investment than I put in, ISAs are useless!”.
ISAs aren’t useless – they are a very good tax wrapper – but the underlying investment funds may have performed badly or disappointingly.
When you make an investment make sure it reflects your attitude towards and your appetite for risk reward and volatility and not the attitude and appetite of your financial adviser. You are different people!
When a Bank asks you to discuss your affairs with their “Financial Planning Manager” they actually mean “Can we convince you to buy a financial product? Here is our Salesman”.
