The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 6,009.92, up 101.16 points or +1.71% on the day and up 109.16 points (+1.85%) over the week.
The index pushed through the psychologically important 6,000 level on Friday for the first time since early March.
After experiencing a sharp fall on Thursday following bad news about debts in Ireland, blue chip stocks staged a strong recovery on Friday, helped along by better than expected jobs figures in the US.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,744.90 (up 265.02 points or 4.61%).
£1 is currently worth $1.61160 US or €1.13290 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $118.92/barrel. Gold is $1,418.00/ounce and Silver is $37.63/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.4% for the year to February 2011.
