Market numbers: Friday 21st January 2011
The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,896.25, up 28.34 points or +0.48% on the day and down 105.82 points (-1.76%) over the week.
The index finished higher on the day after winning back some of the losses made during earlier trading. This recovery was spurred by RSB on their announcement that they wanted to leave the Treasury toxic asset scheme.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,335.10 (up 561.15 points or 10.52%).
£1 is currently worth $1.60090 US or €1.17560 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $97.60/barrel. Gold is $1,343.50/ounce and Silver is $27.14/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.7% for the year to December 2010.
