The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,592.90, up 44.28 points or +0.80% on the day and down 6.58 points (-0.12%) over the week.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 5,047.80 (545.10 points or 10.8%).
The FTSE 100 received a boost on Friday from the oil giants BG and BP, both posting strong performances. There was speculation that BP will shortly resume the payment of dividends to investors.
£1 is currently worth $1.58190 US or €1.14800 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $83.78/barrel. Gold is $1,316.25/ounce and Silver is $21.95/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.1% for the year to August 2010.
