The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,744.89, up 65.25 points or +1.14% on the day and up 41.87 points (+0.73%) over the week.
This represents a new 21 month closing high for the index of leading UK company shares. The rise was thanks largely to commodity and banking stocks, and represents a good start to the second quarter.
The UK market will be closed on Friday and Monday, reopening for business on Tuesday 6th April 2010.
Over a year the FTSE 100 has risen from 3,955.60 (1,789.29 points or 45.23%).
£1 is currently worth $1.52740 US or €1.12580 Euros.
Brent Crude Oil Future is currently priced at $84.08/barrel. Gold is $1,123.50/ounce and Silver is $17.69/ounce.
The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 3.0% for the year to February 2010.
